DAFF Environmental Biosecurity Webinar - Celebrating 50 years of the Plague Locust Commission
Since 1976, the APLC has protected Australian agriculture through surveillance, forecasting, and coordinated responses to locust outbreaks across inland eastern Australia. Working in partnership with governments, researchers, and industry, the APLC combines science, innovation, and operational expertise to support early warning and rapid response.
Dr Spessa will explore the APLC's 50-year history, its partnerships and operational role, and discuss the latest research, forecasting tools and technologies supporting modern locust management. He will also outline the current spring outlook and its implications for the season ahead.
The webinar will provide practical information on identifying and reporting locust activity to support the APLC's early detection and response efforts.
